Who are we?
Welcome to MK Climate Network (MKCAN) – a beacon of hope and action for environmental sustainability in Milton Keynes. Founded in 2023, MKCAN emerged from a shared vision among local environmental groups and activists who recognised the power of unity in addressing the climate and nature crisis. Our journey began with a simple yet profound belief: together, we can create significant, positive changes in our community and beyond.
Mission
The Network aims to raise awareness, influence decision makers and support all those concerned about the climate and nature emergency.
Vision
A community prepared for and taking positive action to address the likely nature, scale and scope of economic, social and environmental challenges expected as a result of climate change and environmental degradation.

Individuals
Become an Individual Member by subscribing to our mailing list. Over 200 people have supported us to date, and many are taking action towards creating a sustainable city. Groups
Become a Group Member. There are no duties, obligations or rights expected of, or assigned to, groups that join our Network. In addition to regular mailings, your organisation will be featured in this space and you can learn about the projects and activities of other members. Request to Join.

August 2026: MKCAN in the news
Thanks to Neil Shefferd at MK Citizen for mentioning our MKCAN member, Judith Heinemann, whose question was chosen by the BBC Any Questions production team when the Programme was hosted at the Open University on 7 August. Judith's question was number 5 of 7, and she got to read her question to the Panel and they responded. Hear the episode at 51 minutes.
Judith asked the Panel about the climate and nature crisis, and she described the Milton Keynes as ‘dry as a bone.’ The brief responses from the Panel were predictably along party lines! Here's Judith with Jane and Caroline after the show. Read the News story here
June 2026: People's Emergency Briefing
We filled MK Gallery's Sky Room when we hosted a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing. Many other organisations have since hosted screenings and more are planned. Search for upcoming local screenings on the National Emergency Briefing Screening Map

We hosted a series of public forums and presented participants' views to the Council.
Members
Members are groups in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas who aim to tackle the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and climate justice. We aim to facilitate the networking opportunities between groups and individuals to build strength in diversity and shared goals.
